She discusses some hair raising adventures on the back of her husband's bike on some backroads. It's an adventure combining thrills and even some luxury. But mostly it's about incredible scenery.

Once again Gary Arndt visits our show to share his travel tips, experiences, and more. Recently, Gary visited one of the smallest countries in the UN (based on population): Tuvalu. Located in the Pacific, between Australia and Hawaii, this country has just shy of 10,000 people, split between 9 islands (only accessible by boat, other than the capital Funafuti). Gary shares his experience visiting the country as well as visiting his favorite area on earth: the Pacific. He even shares the remarkable fact that one hotel has a program of providing super sports cars like Ferraris to guests. Of course we do talk about golf but all agree that some of the best food in Europe can be found in Scotland.

Kristen Jones, a curator at the Harley-Davidson Museum, visits the show to talk to Elizabeth and Paul about one of America’s most iconic brands. In addition to being iconic, this brand has seen a lot over its near 113 years. The museum features 150,000 photographic materials, 5,000 small artifacts, and more than 500 vehicles (including Serial Number 1), allowing visitors to explore major milestones since the company opened in 1903. Author James F. Lee joins Paul and Elizabeth to discuss his book on a little-known chapter in the history of Pearl Harbor. In Safe Passage: The Civilian Evacuation from Hawaii after Pearl Harbor, he chronicles in detail the story of how thousands of dependents of those serving in the Hawaiian Islands were evacuated to the mainland and a safe haven after the attack on December 7, 1941. The book is available at Amazon in paperback and Kindle.

She talks with Paul about Grand Central Terminal in New York City and how it has become home to a spectacular number of Christmas offerings.  The holiday market, restaurants, and food courts here make it a great Christmas destination in itself. Almost a million people a day go through the terminal at peak times. So take an hour on your next trip, relax, have a coffee and maybe a piece of Juniors Cheese Cake and spend some time shopping in the holiday market.

They talk about the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville and the amazing holiday decorations at the Opryland Hotel. The hotel puts hundreds of thousands of  lights but they can't compare to the brilliant holiday sweaters worn by the guests. Oh and then there is the tradition of possum dropping but you'll have to listen to hear that tale.

Sunny Isles Beach Miami is tucked away on 2.5 miles of beach along a barrier island, just outside Miami, Florida. Many people traveling to Miami might be familiar with it, as it’s visible from the drive to Miami from Fort Lauderdale. The study points out the about a third of TSA funds are diverted to other uses.  Since the Transportation Security Administration’s inception in 2001, the agency has been tasked with a difficult but critical job: protect our nation’s transportation systems and travelers while processing them as efficiently as possible. The men and women of the TSA have done a remarkable job keeping America safe for 15 years. The agency’s mission, however, has been rendered more challenging in recent years, thanks to political and budgetary turmoil, resulting in agency staffing shortages, long lines at airport checkpoints and other frustrations. The agency has improved its performance despite the tumultuous policymaking environment, but it must continue to evolve to meet the demands of a constantly shifting security landscape—and in doing so, provide a more streamlined travel experience for all U.S. flyers.  Read More...
